Abolish ICE/Reform Justice
A working democracy does not allow masked, armed, unaccountable agents to violate our human and constitutional rights. We must abolish ICE, and redirect the funds back toward social services. This is a country founded by immigrants, to villainize them is to villainize the core of ourselves. In Nevada, almost 1 in 5 of our neighbors are foreign-born.
We are witnessing a poorly trained, unaccountable, federal force killing Americans. These forces are acting without judicial warrants or due process. They are masked, armed, and acting with impunity. These are not the actions of a democracy.
ABOLISH ICE
ICE has been granted an unprecedented amount of our tax dollars, for which 10’s of millions of Americans will lose healthcare. They are now operating with a larger budget than all other federal law enforcement agencies combined. Instead of helping to heal our communities, Republicans have opted to rip families off our streets.
COMMUNITY SAFETY
Nevadan’s deserve to be safe, but the current Republican administration has failed to deliver that sense of safety and security. We need legislation and leadership that focuses on long-term, data-driven solutions to criminal justice, and end the criminalization of poverty.
BAN PRIVATE PRISONS/DETENTION CENTERS
These are billion dollar industries that are incentivized to imprison Nevadan’s. They are organizations that are incentivized to encourage recidivism, prevent justice reform, and put profits over the well-being of their prisoners. As a consequence there are slews of reports of abuses. No company should profit from the incarceration of Americans.
