Samuel’s Story

Samuel was born and raised in Carson City. Part of a small christian family, his father was a teacher, and his mother was a therapist starting her own practice. He soon graduated high school and went on to study chemical engineering at UNR. Feeling the call for civic duty, he also trained to be an EMT, and worked as a wildland firefighter to help protect the people and communities at the heart of Nevada.

It would be in his sophomore year that Samuel began to experience health issues, that would turn into a crippling autoimmune disorder. It was through this experience that he witnessed first-hand the flaws and injustice in the American healthcare system. After more than a decade of battling illness, and working odd jobs to get by, Samuel’s health began to improve.

With improved health, and after Donald Trump was elected for his second term, Samuel felt called once again to civic duty. He joined millions of Americans in protest against Donald Trump’s cuts to vital government programs, the flagrant wave of corruption, and the shocking abuses against immigrants. Here, Samuel was inspired to continue serving his community, joining multiple volunteer groups and mutual aid organizations throughout Reno. Wanting to do more, Samuel is now running for Congress, hoping to continue to serve and support the people of Nevada.
